Calling all grandparents! You have the unique opportunity to pass down your faith and values to your children and grandchildren – Let the goal be to leave behind a legacy of love that will last for generations to come.
We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done…so that they should set their hope in God.
Psalm 78:4-7
One of the most powerful ways we can pass down our faith and values to future generations is through the stories we tell. Sharing personal stories of how God has worked in our lives can inspire and encourage our children and grandchildren to trust in God’s goodness and faithfulness. Sharing how God provided for the family during a difficult time, or how you saw God’s hand at work in a particular situation, can help our family members see God’s love and provision for themselves.

Another way we can pass down our faith and values is by modeling a Christ-centered life. Our actions often speak louder than our words, and our grandchildren are watching us closely. By living out our faith daily, we can show our family members what it looks like to follow Jesus and how to prioritize our relationship with Him. We can also model qualities such as kindness, generosity, and forgiveness.
We can also be intentional about passing down specific values to our grandchildren. We can teach them the importance of prayer, the value of serving others, and the significance of reading and studying the Bible. We can also encourage them to ask questions and seek answers to their own faith journey. Be the one that they can go to when they are seeking those answers.

Make quality family time a priority. Host family meals and make everyone feel welcome. When your children and grandchildren see how you value time together, they will grow to recognize the importance of this time. And even look forward to the time together!
/**/Finally, you can create traditions and rituals that reflect your faith and values. For example, at family dinners you can invite everyone to share what they’re grateful for and pray together. You can also start a tradition of reading a devotional or Bible story together before bedtime, go to church together and serve others as a family. These traditions can help reinforce the values you want to pass down to your family members and create memories that will last a lifetime.
/**/Here are 10 specific ways that grandparents can create a lasting legacy of love and joy for their families:
- Share your life story: Your experiences and memories can teach your family important lessons and give them a sense of history and belonging.

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
